Nickson Mpairwe

NG24072 Despite loss and hardship, Nickson has witnessed the hand of God on his life. Nickson is the youngest sibling from a large family from Kachungwa. He lost his father when he was still young and has been raised by his single mother who struggled to provide for all of her children. Through the local church, they learned about Africa Renewal and were able to enroll Nickson in our Child Development Program, giving him the opportunity to go to school.

Without sponsorship, Nickson’s mother would not have been able to afford to give him an education. Through the program, not only has he become an excellent student and graduated from the advanced level of high school, but he has also grown into a strong leader. The staff who have mentored and discipled him have seen his life transform spiritually, socially, economically, and academically. Nickson is so grateful for his relationship with God that has developed through serving in his church and for the role models in his community who have served as pillars in his life.

After graduating from high school, Nickson had the opportunity to attend our Transformational Leadership Training that is only open to a select group of student leaders. He felt that this experience was a turning point in his leadership journey and in his faith. He says, “I had been sitting on my spiritual gifts, but the training helped me unlock them.” Now, Nickson serves as a preacher at his church and leads a youth fellowship on Wednesdays. Before going through TLT, he had avoided the discipline of fasting, but now he and the youth in his community fast and pray together. Nickson hopes to pursue a degree in science and technology and to one day become an engineer. He and our staff are praying and trusting God to provide for all of his needs.

Staff Affirmations: “Nickson is such a committed young man with exceptional qualities and an avid communicator. His consistency in spiritual growth and team leadership always craft him as an effective team leader. We can’t wait to see the leader he is becoming in his pursuit of a college degree.”
